SMILING HOUSE™
TERRACOTTA
Due to their open pores, in case of roof tiles, raw brick coatings on the facade and coating tiles made of burned clay without glaze it is easy for humidity to get into them. Through this, a damaging process starts. Humidity dissolves out salts, which can be found inside of the building material and during the drying of the surface, these salts deposit on the surface on the building material. Salt depositions improve the ability of the surface to uptake water. This is that process, which damages the structure of the building materials and results in damaging of the surface in the long-term. Furthermore, salt depositions on the surfaces of the building materials are not too aesthetic either.
Warmth and humidity provide perfect circumstances for the appearance and development of certain organisms, e.g. moss, algae and mould. However, we are able to protect our building materials made of burned clay from these harmful effects with a simple procedure.
By impregnating, we can not only protect the perfect appearance of our building materials, but it helps to maintain the value and to minimize the costs of maintenance. This presentation shows the value-maintaining effect of surface protection made with hydrophobising silicone agents.
SMILING HOUSE™ TERRACOTTA protects the beauty of building materials made of burned clay and enables them to keep their value. This silicone impregnating agent hydrophobises the surfaces of building materials without impeding them to breathe.
The result: water rolls off the surface, however, water vapour may freely move in the meantime. It accelerates the drying, improves the thermal insulating ability of building materials. It is proven that impregnated materials are perfectly frost-free.
